|This medallion reproduces a medallion devoted to the virtue of Prudence, an anonymous work in marble, probably by an Italian artist, which dates from the sixteenth century. It came from the house Mai-Pinós which was located at the Cucurulla square in Barcelona and was given by the owners, the Marquis and Marchioness of Barberà, to the Museu Provincial d’Antiguitats (Provincial Antiquities Museum) of the Acadèmia de Bones Lletres (the Academy of Literature) of Barcelona in 1838 following the demolition of the house.
It is presently on loan to the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (National Art Museum of Catalonia) (MNAC 9944). The further six original representations of the virtues, which also come from the house Mai –Pinòs, are preserved at present at the Torre Pallaresa in Santa Coloma de Gramanet.|
