Vallmitjana Abarca frequently worked with animal subjects. He was awarded with a second-class medal in 1895 for this large-scale work (that is preserved at present in the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya - the National Art Museum of Catalonia) (MNAC/MAM 10030) which he submitted to the Exposición Nacional de Bellas Artes de Madrid (Madrid National Exhibition of Fine Arts). |
