Portrait of Queen Maria Lluïsa de Parma
Anònim, escola espanyola (principis segle XIX)
Technique: Oil on canvas
Dimensions: 69 x 49 cm
Date: c. 1800
Generic classification: Paint
General inventari: 255
Location: Reial Acadèmia Catalana de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi
Notes:
Inscribed: On back of frame, on label of the Academy, in ink: “[...]/ N.M. 33/ Retrato de la reina Ma[...]/ Luisa.’; in pencil (modern) “Ndm. 355’. On stretcher, in pencil (old): “21’. Note: It was painted on the back of a piece of painting in which there is still visible at the right the half-lower part of the body of a man, and at the left, the lower part of the Golden Fleece . The number 355, which was written in modern times on the back, is certainly a wrong identification with a copy of Maella's portrait of the same queen made by Montanya that bore this number in the catàlegs de 1866, 1867. In the Catàleg 1913 (no. 37) there appears a portrait of Carlos IV, presently lost, of the same measurements, which was probably the pair to this present work.
