|Inscribed: On stretcher, on label of the Academy, in ink: “Núm. Ant. 228/ Núm. Mod. 334/ San Juan Evange/lista escribiendo/ el Apocalipsis’.
Provenance: It entered the Academy following the events of 1835, coming from one of the convents which were abolished. It went to the Board og Agriculture, Industry and Commerce from where it was returned to the Museum of the Academy in 1863.
Came to the Academy's Museum: 1835 (?).
Note: Despite the clear presence of both saints, this work is recorded in the catalogues of 1866-67 and 1913 as if it only depicted the Evangelist. However, in the inventory of the works which the Junta ceded to the Academy (no. 14) it is entitled correctly.
It is badly damaged, the image of the Baptist is seriously torn. On loan to the MFMB (inv. 3152), until came back to the Academy on September 29, 2009.|
