|Inscribed: On back of frame and on stretcher, on torn label of the Academy, in ink: “Núm. ant. Se desconoce/ (...)31/(...)".
Restaurations: restored by CCRBCM in 1999
Note: In all probability this work was painted in 1783 to commemorate the birth of the twin-princes Carles and Felip, sons of Carles IV, the future king of Spain. It must be the work which Vidal (who was pupil and was to be teacher and deputy director of the Drawing School) offered to the Junta de Comerç on October 23rd of that same year, and which the institution accepted and allocated to the Drawing School itself (ALCOLEA (GIL), II, p. 190). It is in a poor state of preservation.
It is the Alegoría (no. X) which in 1932 was loaned to the Comissió Provincial de Monuments Històrics i Artístics de Barcelona from where it was recovered years later.|
