Inscribed: On frame, on old card in ink: “320’. On back of canvas, label of the exhibition “Un siglo olvidado...", and on another label of the Academy: “N.a. 320/ N.M. 199/ (...)de la/ (...)llas’. Provenance: Convent of Sant Francesc d’Assís in Barcelona, from where it passed to the Museum of the former Junta de Comerç. Came to the Academy's Museum: 1835. Note: Sometimes, when illustrating this work, another painting has turned up with the same subject, also in the Academy's collection (GUIDIOL/ALCOLEA/CIRLOT, fig. 97). In 1932 it was loaned to the Comissió Provincial de Monuments Històrics i Artístics de Barcelona (no. 38 in the list of works on loan) from where it was recovered some years later. Relined.
