Note: The portrayed (Portugalete, 1715 - Valls, 1778) was military governor of the Principality of Catalonia between August 1st 1763 and May 6th 1776. The Drawing School of the Llotja (also referred to as the Escola de Llotja, and which was later to become the Academy) was created under his term of office.
The work which was considered to be the original by Mengs was purchased by the Junta de Comerç from Gertrudis de Oryazabal i Ponsich for 24 duros, on December 5th 1814. Its present location is unknown.|
