Provenance: Espinós, Director at the Escola de Flors i Ornats (the School of Flowers and Adornments) in the Valencia Academy, sent for the disposal of the Junta de Comerç of Barcelona in 1789, several paintings of flowers and drawings for the classes on this subject which were held at the Escola de Llotja; two of the flower paintings were returned to Espinós in 1790. The present work is probably one of the items of that consignement which remained in Barcelona.
Came to the Academy's Museum: 1789 (?).
Observation: The works by Antoni Sort and Joaquim Planella, currently in this same Museum (inv. nos.131 and 114), are copies (the first one with variations) of this painting. In 1932 it was loaned to the Comissió Provincial de Monuments Històrics i Artístics de Barcelona (no. 37 in the list of the works on loan) from where it was recovered some years later.|
