For this work the Academy granted the pension of sculpture to Antoni Fabrés to go to Rome in 1875. On this work there seems to be a confusion. Seems, in the museum of art there was another copy in plaster, emptying of this one, donated by the author in 1926 - unitedly with other works-, to the Junta de Museos of Barcelona and that consists in the catalogue of the printed museum the same year. Nowadays the location is not known. If we notice of the news gathered in the memories of the Academy, might be interpreted that it was this sculpture the one that moved temporarily to the museum on the occasion of the donation of painting that did Fabrés, thing that seems to be slightly probable Abel died by his brother Cain is a Biblical history that corresponds to the text of the book of the Genesis, 4, 8.
