Inscriptions: “CAESAR DIVI AUG FAUGUSTUS IMP VII TI”, around the medallion. This medallion reproduce a marble one which dates from the early sixteenth century and which was carved in marble by an anonymous artist probably from the Carthusian monastery of Pavia. It came from the house Miquel Mai and was given by its’ owners, the Marquis and Marchioness of Barberà, to the Museu Provincial d’Antiguitats (Provincial Antiquities Museum) of the Acadèmia de Bones Lletres (the Academy of Literature) of Barcelona in 1838 following the demolition of the house. At present it is on loan to the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (National Art Museum of Catalonia) (MNAC 9946). See among others, Catalogue 1936, p.162, no. 15 / inv. no. 9946 (listed as Emperor August); Garriga 1986, cat. No. 232, pp. 276, 277; Llonja 1999, cat. no. 3. The 3934 E medallion appears to have been made from the other and is by far of a lesser quality. As for the inscription, it is hardly visible. Like medallion number inventary 3934 E.
